The history of Biogest International® begins with Biogest Systemkläranlagen GmbH, which was founded in Wiesbaden in 1976 with three employees.
Our first wastewater treatment plant customers were Adam Opel AG and Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus AG.
In the 1980’s the SBR-operation principle of biological wastewater treatment plants was developed together with our Swiss partner company, NORM AMC AG.
As a result of this partnership the surface aerator “BSK®‑Turbine“, was developed, which was adapted as our own product in 1992.
In 1992 the company’s name was changed to Biogest International® GmbH and we opened a branch office in Dresden, which remains the main location of the company.
Between 1998 and 2000 the company developed a clear water discharge system called “BSK®-Decanter” and simultaneously optimized the BSK®-Turbine.
In 2024 the product portfolio was expanded by our third product the BSK®-floating sensor holder.
In the following ten years, the branch offices were established in Bulgaria, China, Croatia and Romania.
As a result of more intense participation in international public projects, an impressive wastewater technology reference plant was initially built in the town of Koprivnica in Croatia.
This was followed in 2015 by further plants in the cities Gabrovo, Kardzhali and Svilengrad (Bulgaria) as well as in Liesti and Pechea (Romania).
In 2020, Biogest International® GmbH received the largest order for the delivery of BSK®-Decanters in the company’s history. We are honored to equip one of the largest SBR wastewater treatment plants in the world, which is currently under construction in Bahrain, with 36 units of our BSK®-Decanters including control systems.
